I used an old steel bar to secure the sliding patio door. While the solution worked well, it was very impractical. It was annoying to find a spot for the bar, when you rented it and when you were trying to take out the rubbish and forgot to unlock the bar first it was a hassle installed in about 15 minutes some light drilling and my door secured very well push the button on the front and your lock will pop out and the door will open. You can easily do it with your hands full! When you're done. Just press down on the locking bar with your foot and your door is secure. Super light, very effective and comfortable product. I had the white version which looked great It appears to be a reliable and well made Andersen product.
