For many grating jobs (like zucchini and cabbage) I prefer to set the grater on its side because it's easier to control the object you are Rubbing (because you're working with gravity, not against it I guess, I don't know why, at least it's easier for me). I ripped off my last grater because the handle eventually came loose. I'm pretty sure that won't happen with this one. It is durable and well made. Some say it's not spicy enough. Seems sharp enough to me. I grated some fresh beets from the garden and it worked great with little to no pressure. An excellent purchase of an essential and versatile kitchen item.
