I have seen many reviews discussing the size of this spout. This drain fits a nominal 1.5 inch diameter. Note that the OD of the 1.5" pipe is 1.9", not 1.5" as you might think. It's also confusing that the drain you might be removing is actually designed for a 1-1/4" drain installed with an adapter sleeve to fit a 1.5" drain (many Drains in household stores are sold this way and it happens that a 1-1/4 OD pipe has almost 1.5 inches, another thread seal, and the larger 1.5 inch pipe has a slightly larger bore to allow the water to flow faster If you have a real 1.5" drain pipe, choose a real 1.5" drain like this one and not a hosepipe. it seems sturdy. A drain at my home shop with sleeves (probably from one metal pot) the cross has corroded after a few years, time will tell how it holds up.
