I bought these gloves a few days before the snow storm because I knew my son would like to play in the snow. I took a chance because they had some bad reviews. The first thing I did when I got them was hold them under running water while my hand (or part of it) was gloved. My hand didn't get wet BUT the black part (we bought the red ones) got wet, the black material feels like faux suede and doesn't feel water repellent although again my hand didn't get wet. I bought a 2-4 side for my 3 year old and these gloves are huge, I could fit half my hand in them (although I have skinny hands). My toddler was able to find out how to stick your thumb out, I pulled the gloves up to his wrist and slipped the jacket over them. My son hated the feeling but agreed to keep them. He went out and played in the snow for about half an hour, when he came back his hands were dry and warm and strangely the gloves didn't feel particularly wet. So far so good, I'll update if anything changes.
