I find it easily fits both new refrigerant bottles and recovery bottles as the fairly long velcro is used to attach the case to the bottles. It paid off in the time saved as I could keep refilling with a bottle that ran out of refrigerant. There is no need to separate and take another bottle with a large amount of refrigerant. I only use it on my cylinders to force coolant into the system. I have not used it to recover refrigerant from a system. I have a heat gun that I would probably use for this. As others have said, make sure you only connect it when the blanket is wrapped around the cylinder that acts as a heat sink, otherwise you could damage the blanket.
