I bought this for my pre-teen. I was concerned about see-through when she's swimming but it is opaque. The top is lightly padded, thankfully. She said it was comfortable and she would definitely like to get more tops because she likes to lounge with crop tops. That opens this up for more than swimming. The thing I like as a mom of a pre-teen is that it covers well. Not Mormon modest (it's an observance, not judgement) but also an awkward phase of life comfort while being body positive in these critical years.
