Nice Radiant Hob Upgrade

This review is for the Weceleh WEIF-A211 30 Inch Induction Hob. I have to say that for a full sized induction hob at this price point I'm quite impressed. It cooks beautifully, cooks unusually quickly and holds the temperature well. This particular unit has a "boost" feature that adds an additional 300 or 600 watts to the "burner" while drawing some power from the neighboring "burner". This is handy for quickly boiling a pot of water for pasta. For those who are considering an induction cooktop for the first time, this is a big difference between it and radiant electric cooktops. Radiant heat simply heats the electric coil until it glows red, while infrared heat basically heats up the pot, stovetop and anything in the way. It's terribly inefficient in terms of performance and difficult to cook. However, induction heating works on a completely different principle. Powerful coils induce a powerful electromagnetic field that interacts with the ferrous metal in the pan, heating the pan directly. For this reason, any cookware used with an induction cooktop must have a layer of black metal (iron) in the bottom. If the magnet sticks to the bottom of the pot, you can use it with an induction cooker. This also includes coated cast iron such as Le Creuset. This device was well packaged with good foam padding protecting it. The instruction manual was well written and easy to understand despite being written for the European market. There is nothing unusual about this, only the terminology differs from that generally accepted in the United States. Installation is simple, just inserting into an existing rough hole and clips to secure the device. Wiring is via a simple 240V 3 core cable with illustrated wiring instructions attached directly to the cable. For my particular setup, I adapted the unit to replace the existing radiant panel with a pull out oven. Non-standard setup but it worked fine. (The back panel was not installed when I took the photos.) I would highly recommend this cooktop to anyone looking to make the switch from radiant cooking. You will not be disappointed.
