Designed for Long Life Ceiling Fans

This is the first part of a multi-part review. This ceiling fan and light will be installed in the living room of a ranch style home and will require a new electrical junction box at the installation site suitable for the fan installation. I've done this work before and I look forward to it. However, the house that is my wife's family home that we recently bought comes with luggage, both literally and figuratively. Before I can make these electrical upgrades, there's a lot of clutter in the ranch attic that needs to be sorted out. While I look forward to this necessary work, there are more pressing issues that we must resolve. All of this means that the actual installation of this fan comes later in this renovation project. Therefore, this review is divided accordingly. The shipping packaging of the item is of decent weight which means that the supplier has designed the items with a muscular structure without being too heavy. I've looked at most of the parts and they are well designed with durable hardware. Looking through the installation instructions, I see that the Wi-Fi aspects of this unit mean that the rectangular transceiver is installed in the ceiling bell housing between the lower fan duct and the junction box above. Again, I've encountered this setup method before when I had a similar wirelessly controlled unit in my master bedroom. This approach allowed the light and fan to be controlled independently without having to retrofit the existing wiring to the downlight. This raises a design question for this new lamp. As mentioned above, I don't have any wiring for this light yet. We know this fan is advertised as a Wi-Fi enabled device that can be controlled remotely, e.g. B. via Alexa. It's neat. It also means there is no need for traditional wiring of this ceiling fan and light with separate wires and switches for light and fan. In addition, this device should ideally always be connected to a power source so that its WiFi functions can be powered and connected to the wireless network. This means that using the wall switch to turn off the light or fan will also unplug the device and no longer be able to control it wirelessly. In this way the user, who will be my son, has better control over the device. over the wireless network and always keep the device hot to turn it on. And THAT means I don't even have to connect this device to the switch the traditional way. I could just turn on the junction box and leave it hot all the time, the idea is for the device to be controlled by wifi commands. Device could still be controlled by pull chains. So will I skip the wall switches and reduce my wiring requirements accordingly? Ha ha, I say, sarcasm dripping from the keyboard. Not in your life. I hate the look of the pull chain and would hate to hang my hat on this design requirement. Rather, I plan to connect this device's junction box in the tried and true manner, by running two independent conductors to the device's wall switch. In my proposed installation approach with this mount, I simply leave one conductor covered and floating in the junction box and connect the other conductor to a conventional switch. And I will close and melt the same unused conductor in the fan junction box. This design guarantees a future install where I can easily switch back to a "dumb" light controlled by separate light and fan switches by simply updating the wall switch. accordingly.So.I am insured. The device checks all fields in the test bench testing of parts and documentation. Still, I was happy to see that the documentation is detailed and easy to understand. And I'm pleased to note that the warranty is listed as 3 years for the motor and 5 years for the LED bulb (parts only, no labor). Stay tuned for an update of my review when I get to the install. No initial adjustment issues = 5 stars.
