I had a crack in the intake manifold so I replaced the spark plugs and COP boots. This was sufficient, I used plenty of dielectric grease to ensure they seal well and are as waterproof as possible as their design was far from optimal at preventing liquid ingress. I have a model police interceptor and stumbled across the missing spring parts. If that interests you too, don't. I had 3 separate pieces with heavy duty pins on either end. They just don't have them and they work fine leaving no gap between them and the spark plugs.
