I'm afraid of burning food when using an electric stove! I wish so much I could switch my top to gas because gas has more heat control. But since I can't, I needed something so I don't burn everything! I used to have a small wire hanging over the burner just long enough not to set anything on fire. Well, technically I still have it, but it slipped between the wall and the stove and I couldn't get it out. Anyway I'm buying this to help and it really helps. On the weekends I fried meat into soup and placed it between the stove and the pot. Even with a little distraction and not checking as regularly as you should, the meat isn't burned. So this does the intended job.
