I have 5 tanks, 3 of which are under 10 gallons. I have a 4.12 gallon cube and decided to try this Global Star RGB aquarium light. At the time of review, this light costs $13.99. The lamp comes with 2 suction cups to attach it to, a remote control and a small instruction manual. The light can be controlled with the remote control (it is necessary to follow the dimmer on the cable). The cord is very long, in fact I barely unrolled mine. There are some good qualities here. My cube actually has a lid so I put suction cups on the TOP of the lid and use it that way. It also works on the underside of lids and of course under water. I loaded the light and it worked fine. My cube is 10 inches in diameter and fits in perfectly if I wanted to do that with it. The light is approximately 9 inches long, but remember that the cord will stick out at one end if you want more light. skintight. If you choose the time function, you need to press the timer for the time you want to set 4 hours, 6 hours, 8 hours when you want the light to turn on. For example I need a 6 hour timer. I turned it on at 10am so it would turn off at 4pm. From now on it turns on at 10 and off at 4 until I change it. Lots of light options. White does have a blue tint to it, but be aware this is the color I chose for my tank. For high light plants, the light is not enough, so I have 2 lamps (1 of a different type) in this aquarium. It has 5 brightness levels. So if you're looking for colored lights and a mood, playing with the brightness will be fun. Although I have white to the fullest. The fish I have (CPD) also seem to like lighter colors. It's a neat little light that's user-friendly - if you lose the remote it can still be controlled with the cord control (great for baby bottles or adults who often lose their remote!). This is good value for money but probably not the best light for growing plants in medium to high light conditions. Simple plants like Java or Anubias can work. I would say the light is best for portrait aquariums 5 gallons or less. (a 5 gallon landscape would be too wide for this shorter lantern)
