Definitely works on thick hair and tangles

I doubted anything would cut through my older King Charles' tangles, especially the cordless trimmer, but it actually worked. My dog had #2 mats around his back and mats under his chin because he was drooling due to dental disease. First they washed it and treated all the mats as best they could with a copious amount of conditioner (cheap, human, branded) and a good brush, then I picked it all up with #1 Guard. He's quite docile, but still confused me when I went to get the mats. Then I took off the guard and shaved him to the bone. My skills as a beautician are terrible, but he's lost about 10 pounds of fur and seems happier despite the razor cuts (my fault) so it was worth it. The trimmer worked for an hour without an initial charge. I cleaned the blades 3 times. They never got warm in my hands and seemed a bit quieter than my old corded ones. My dog is very passive and used to professional grooming (pre-coronavirus) so the noise doesn't bother him, but I think a more fearful dog would be more tolerant if introduced properly/slowly. I found the trimmer less heavy than my old corded trimmers. I've only used them once, but the initial cost was already less than a professional cut, so they're worth the money no matter how much (or little). ) that I get from them. Kit includes #1-4 guards, brush/blade cleaning tool, charger, blade case, blade oil, scissors and instructions in a cheap plastic carrying case. I oiled the blades and charged the trimmer as directed before use and cleaned the blades after use as directed. I hope they last many times. Update: They still cut great! I think I've used them 4 times since my original review and the blades are still sharp. I will update again after more uses. A word of caution: I left the trimmers on the back porch and the blades have become rusty from the moisture. I disassembled the blade to clean and oil it and this allowed me to remove a lot of hair from the engine case area. I would recommend checking and deep cleaning this area after each use. Don't Be Me Don't neglect this area and laugh at Florida's humid summers.
