Note: I wash all perches/toys before I put them in the bird run. Like most wooden poles of this type, it had an odd finish that I had to slowly remove. I realize this might be somewhat upsetting, but my birds chew and I won't risk them choking, especially as I never keep wooden sticks for more than 6 months (I don't feel like I can thoroughly clean wooden toys/sticks , so I remove them after a while for peace of mind). I love how this perch opens the cage and my dumb birds love jumping from perch to perch, it took them about a week to get used to it as it takes so long. lots of space compared to more than types of perches and toys. The perch took about 20 seconds to curl up. Because it's so big and the washer/screw keeps everything in the cage I would rate it as the strongest product but it holds two small birds well!
