Decent Postage Scale

I sell items online from time to time and have always found myself in a bad "weight guessing" game when trying to buy postage online. I figured it was time to get a letter scale, but I didn't want to spend a fortune on something I would only use a few times a month. I think this scale is beneficial given the low price. This is a nice, simple scale that gets the job done. It has multiple units (kg, g, lb, oz) to choose from for weighing and easy to use. It can weigh up to 66 pounds and runs on both an AC adapter and 3 AAA batteries (not included). I love that it has an auto shut off feature after 5 minutes to save battery life. The scale includes a power supply and a tape measure, which is useful for measuring packages, as the post office may add extra fees if box sizes exceed a certain size. The large backlit LCD screen and large buttons are also a plus. I've tried weighing a few things around the house and found it to be accurate enough for general purposes like postage, but it's not good for anything that requires very high accuracy. The front of the box states that it is for laboratory or industrial use - I disagree with this and do not recommend it. If you need something you can use under these conditions, spend your money on something industrial or laboratory that offers the right level of accuracy. I feel that the manufacturer is somewhat irresponsible in advertising it as such. When I tested the scale at home, I weighed a 5 lb dumbbell and came up with 5.14 pounds, the 32 fl bottle (which should weigh about 2.086 pounds if 1.043 pounds per fl oz is used) showed the scale 2.3 pounds on. It's about what I expected considering the price, so I can't complain. All in all, this is an inexpensive postal scale that gets the job done. If in doubt, you can always round up to ensure you get enough postage. It is a good choice for home or small office applications that do not require very high accuracy. This will save you time in the mail queue, so that alone is worth it!
