I have used the Norelco 6100 (aka 1150X) for over a decade. It worked well. It's time for a replacement. I was not satisfied with the replacement blades. It wasn't very comfortable getting hair under my nose, but other than that I was happy with it. Didn't hit the comparison store for this one. I left my razor on a business trip and bought what I could find at Target. I've been using Norelco since 1994. This is my fourth. This is the first time I have bought a higher quality model. I'm not sure if it was worth the extra cost. On the other hand, I have no frame of reference for other models currently available. I haven't used any other brand since 1994. I'm sure Philips is happy about that. I didn't need a 9700 series with a cleaning system. I just didn't need anything big and bulky on the bathroom counter. Using water to clean works well for me as it did on my previous model. Charging: Uses almost the same charging cable, but not the same. The new model is rated at 15V @ 340mA versus 15V @ 300mA on my old model. It would be nice to have an extra cable from the older model. Maybe they are all 340mA now. It's the same plug. I really like the % display. I've never had a useful charge indicator on any previous model. useful space. It also recharges quickly. It seemed like less than an hour went from 10 to 100%. I didn't time it exactly. I didn't want a charging pad model. Too big and unnecessary. I also find they are slow to charge electronics like my phone and this is the same Qi charger that works with the phone. I hated the cradle of my previous model. I'm actually glad to be back with a charging cable. Much smaller and easier to pack for a trip. Look and Feel: In the hand it feels about the same as my old one, only with a new look. Same weight, same engine, same tools. My 11 year old heads fit the new model and work great. I like that it doesn't require a docking station to charge. Similar to my first two models. Battery life: I haven't had it in quite a while. I will update later. Performance: I used it at medium speed. It doesn't chew my face like some YT reviewers do. I don't think they were regular Norelco users before trying this model. It cuts hair faster and a little more accurately. I'm sure part of the "closer" feel is because it had new blades, but I know my previous model wasn't as efficient. Also, it fits better under my nose. I don't know how, because it looks like the blades are further from the edge, but they are. It's definitely fast. I don't know how much, but I can tell there is a difference. Travel case: The case on this model is perfect. I considered buying something else because in the Qi charging version video, the travel case looked very big. This case is small enough to fit a razor, charger and sideburn knife in a small space. It might be a bit smaller, but it doesn't look significantly larger than other options I've found at Revain. If you had a previous case that you liked, it will probably be a good fit. Other features: I like travel blocking. I can't tell you how many times I've driven to a destination and my battery died because it was on while I was driving. I like how it works. The instructions do not state that the lock will turn off when connected to the store. Maybe I don't need this feature now that I have a suitable case, but now I don't have to worry. Warnings: I do not use shaving cream. I don't use it in the shower and I don't intend to start using it. Lessons learned from over 20 years of dry shaving: 1) When you dry shave, tiny strands of hair remain on your face. Wash your face immediately, either in the shower or in the sink. You will get less acne if you protect your pores from very small strands of hair. 2) Do not dry shave when your face or neck is even slightly damp or sweaty, you will regret it. I've had similar tutorials with the Remington screen. Razor before I started using this brand so it's not owned by Norelco. Verdict: (+) Performance (+) No stand and compact charging method (+) Fast charging (+) Travel lock (+) Travel bag (+) ) Waterproof (+) Same compact size as previous model (-) Price ($165-225 Dollars would be more appropriate) TBD: Battery Life Blade Update June 11, 2021: Battery lasts about 35 shaves. 2-3% per shave for me. I've used it in the shower a few times. I lather myself with soap and get to work. Not my preference, but dabbing my face before shaving works. A bit burnt the first few times but not every time. Seems less of a problem. I still prefer the dry shave. The drainage after showering is quite decent. A simple shake and it empties pretty well. I still use the original blades. I hope to change them every year.
