LaCl3 . way, WAY better than GFO, with the caveat that you _really_ have to watch what the heck you're doing. Reduce the recommended dosage by about 50%, especially in nano and pico aquariums. Is this thing a miracle? No, it's chemistry and it does an excellent job of removing excess phosphate from the solution. Aim for 0.03ppm phosphate as it is *required* by corals. However, don't pour your phosphates like a rock. Use smaller doses than recommended. They prevent the development of a state of shock for both your corals and your fish. Just follow the course recommended in the documentation, but at a reduced dose, and you'll quickly deal with algae. Just remember what I said above. If you overdo it, you can, and most likely will, kill fish, inversions, and lots of coral.
