Review on ⭐️ Starrett 70BX Pocket Scriber – Carbide Point, 2-7/8" Length, 3/8" Diameter Handle by Samiran Pusarla

The Starrett name has a reputation that far outstrips its cheaper competitors, although few can match it. I bought this to replace a hardened scriber that became dull when lined on stainless steel. I've had it for less than a month and it's been a game changer ever since. I'll admit that the first day I used it, I was hesitant to apply pressure when drawing lines to the point where there were no clear markers. Having said that, I found out exactly how much pressure was too much when, within the first few hours of use, I broke off the sharpest 1/64" of the tip! The point remaining after the break was almost preferred, although nobody did Starrett's tool and today I accidentally dropped it while removing the tool skirt and another 1/16 broke cleanly But don't worry the tip is carbide and with a few taps on a bench grinder the edge is almost as sharp like the day I got them. BE CAREFUL WITH CARBIDE! Especially with your Starrett Carbide Scriber! It's easy to forget that this is a precision tool, especially when set with a general purpose or home-made scriber! 11/10 for quality and performance UPDATE 4/17/2020: Marker dot is not carbide, just carbide tipped Two weeks later I discovered that di e broken tip was actually made entirely of hard metal. It's basically a $70 billion writer right now, and at $35 to $45 depending on where you go, I don't see it as a viable option unless you're careful. I'm not sure why I spend so much on carbide tipped markers, but if it were solid carbide I would recommend it for everyday use. Attention buyers, it is fragile. 4/5 stars for the carbide tip only.
