Pivots are rigid. I tried opening and closing it at least 20 times before putting my earring on. It broke before the 10th try. This is a quality control issue. applied a very small amount of petroleum jelly to the whorl while working. To make these rear arms truly interchangeable, I cut out an open ring at the bottom so the shackle hangers can be easily changed.
