I wanted a bigger immersion dripper than Hario but Bonavita is no longer available. The submersible dripper gives you the flavor of a French press but with a cleaner body and no buildup at the bottom of the cup. I get a great 16 ounce coffee mug and I'm quite a coffee fanatic. (I measure and weigh everything). I would compare it to a French press and then pouring coffee through a filter into a cup, but with less effort. If you have a French press, you can brew coffee in it (or even a glass measuring cup), let it steep for two minutes, and then pour it through a properly prepared strainer into your cup. If you like the result, Clever delivers the same flavor and clean body, but with less hassle — especially if you have cups that are 3.75 inches or smaller, so you don't need a server. A few tips: Preheat everything. even if it's just hot tap water. Prepare cleverly and filter with boiling water. Pour in the water carefully and mix well. The goal is NOT to spread the coffee grounds around the edges of the filter paper. Remove the filter and rinse the Clever immediately after pouring the coffee into the pot or cup. You get the maximum flavor out of every coffee you use. You really need to pay attention to what you're doing so that when you get the perfect mug, you can consistently replicate the results. I disagree that Clever is intended for people who don't have the ability to pour coffee. It is unique in that you get the taste of a French Press but without the dregs.
