Good accessory for PS3 if better designed

I originally bought this remote control because I was too lazy to learn how to use a regular controller. I'm tired of waiting for the PS3 controller to "wake up" to pause or resume a movie. I gave this device 3 stars because it does what it's designed to do, lacks the features you would find on a standard remote and is poorly designed. I'll start with all the bad stuff, starting with what you want to know about a product before you buy it. Well the main reason people buy this is to have a device that makes it easy to watch/navigate a movie. Most people watch movies in the dark, so having a button that glows or glows can help. Most of the best remote controls have this feature. Like most people, this stop button will take you back to the PS3 screen instead of just stopping the movie and going back to the main menu. Some movies have an auto-sequel feature that allows you to return to the same place. Therefore, if the movie you are watching does not have this feature, it becomes very cumbersome to search for your seat. I also don't know why they didn't combine the pause and play button. Many people have complained that pressing any button turns on your PS3. What most people don't know is that it's due to Bluetooth, which was a very poor implementation for the remote control. Bluetooth was intended for devices that transmit data at low speeds and provide security. The PS3 is actually in standby mode, not turned off. When it's idle, Bluetooth is still active, and when it detects a command, it will wake up the PS3 to receive commands. One feature of Bluetooth is to turn itself off after a period of inactivity to save power. That's why some people complain about having to press the button twice. The first button "wakes" him up, and the second performs the function of his choosing. Having said that, it still sucks that you turn on your PS3 every time you accidentally press the button. The only benefit of Bluetooth is that you don't have to point it at the PS3 to use it. If you lightly slide your finger across one of the labels on the remote control, you can feel the texture of the letters. If you can feel the lettering that well, it means that the manufacturer printed the lettering without a coating. What does that mean? This means that the label will wear off after prolonged use and you need to know what the button does. This probably doesn't apply to most people, but if you have an older PS3 you may need to update the firmware. before it works. You must have firmware version 1.30 or later to use the remote control. Sony was in the business of manufacturing electronic devices and definitely didn't show any ingenuity for a device that you can only use on your PS3. With the exception of the analog sticks, the remote has all the buttons you can press on the PS3 controller in the center of the remote. I think you can think of it like a big PS3 controller. All in all, if you need a remote to watch movies instead of using a controller and don't mind shelling out around $20, then this will serve you well. If you don't mind using one PS3 controller for all your needs, you can definitely ditch it. I'm not aware of any Blu-ray that requires this remote control to access certain functions.
