Review on Enhanced Fluoride Filtration with Black Berkey Replacement Filters by Aquarium Lanter

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Bought April 2016, no luck. The OEM claims they have a 5 year lifespan. hahaha

I replaced the fluoride filters as they don't last long. I think they work, but hang in the bottom reservoir where your filtered water is. Filling the top reservoir completely keeps these fluoride filters in your drinking water at Big Berkey. Thoughtful design and high thread weight of the black filters when you turn the top bin upside down when cleaning. Black filters should last 5 years. After about 2 years the thread on one of the filters came loose (the damaged thread is not visible but it is visible when the nut is tightened). I've read that you can put teflon tape on the threads and hold the nut. I did this last year and it worked. Washed the upper tank today. Filters must be removed for cleaning. When changing the filters, another black filter broke the threads again. Now the two are below. For the price you pay, this shouldn't happen. Berkey sells plugs that cover the hole where the filter was. No problem removing these threads as they are done right! Why doesn't Berkey make filters of the same quality? They certainly charge enough money for the filters to get them right. I wish Berkey would replace these filters, but the Revain page didn't have a button to contact the supplier, so maybe Berkey sees that. I'll call Burke tomorrow but from the blogs on the internet it looks like it's a waste of time.

Pros
  • water filter and softener
Cons
  • boring packaging
