Initially everything worked as advertised for about 1 month. They can have a noise, a vibration, or a shock - or a combination of both. I chose all three because I wanted him to understand that a beep or vibration means an electric shock will follow if he doesn't stop barking. My dog is a life saver, she was left alone and learned to bark in the street. Now he has plenty of space during the day and a companion dog, but he still barks for an hour or two at a time, my neighbor told me. He also barked and chased cars and bicycles along the fence. With this collar, he quickly learned that barking was unpleasant and would rather enter a house than be tempted to bark at moving objects. Then a month later I heard (and probably shocked him too) the noise of the collar. ) when he drank or sneezed. abominable! I turned it off and on again and it was working fine again, but I don't trust him anymore so I only put him on when he starts barking - yes he does too (3am is his favorite time). Now after a few months it has stopped working and I have to turn it off and on again to get it working again. I'll throw that away. I would pay more for a higher quality product that I can trust. Also, hiring a qualified animal behaviorist to work with you and your dog is really not a long term humane solution - I will do that instead of buying a new one.
