First of all, the palm rest is soft, supportive, comfortable and stays in place on the table. The faux leather looks nice, is relatively durable and easy to clean. Those are pluses. One thing to note though: the material is not breathable which can cause your hands/wrists to get hot and sweaty. I don't even get sweaty hands - no issues with shaky hands, and I almost never use chalk when climbing. But when I sat in a room at around 75 degrees, I found my palms to get damp and sticky to that palm rest. Sound uncomfortable? trust me it is. I originally used the plastic palm rest built into the Logitech G710+ keyboard. It wasn't particularly comfortable and I initially found this 3M product to be a huge upgrade in terms of comfort and support. But after about 20 minutes of use I saw the advantages of plastic over gel - I never sweat on plastic. And if you sit at the computer for hours, that's important. So if you were wondering why this product should be antimicrobial, now you know.
