Although a great idea and attractive when you look at it on the web, the peanut plug will fall short in real applications and fall behind almost all of its competitors - and two or three times more expensive, not less . The simplest of improvements could be made to this device, which would make it (theoretically of course) a totally attractive buy, but Securifi (the manufacturer) doesn't seem interested in improving their product. very unfortunate, although I don't think they do all that in general. So, ok, that's 15 amps, which is what I need because I have a 1500w heater, and. it's round, i.e. less square than the others (I mean I'd go for a black square with rounded corners if we had a choice, but unfortunately we don't have one, so a white circle is good quality today) bad: my main gripe is its inability to keep in touch with the hub. That. easy. can not. stay. related, which is a real shame considering what it was about. two functions in life - connect to the hub and turn on/off on command. I use the SmartThings/ADT Security Hub, also purchased from Revain, which maintains connections very well and communicates instantly with connected devices. My ADT door sensor, for example, makes the hub INSTANTLY beep as soon as it opens - always, always, absolutely reliably and predictably. and this battery device is two rooms away! However, the plug that connects to the home network, located just four feet below the hub, is often "unavailable" or "device disabled" or blinking green and red, which is worst. and what does blinking green and red mean you ask? Well, it's basically "I'm dead/Maitag/SOS". To do this, you need to disconnect, reconnect and hold down the reset button. It then needs to be added back to your hub, losing all of its history (more on that in a moment), as well as actions and triggers. as if it were a brand new device. so much fun. bad, part two: history erased when device needs a hard reset, just power on/off. The power monitoring promised in the title doesn't work with SmartThings (and when I bought it the product name even said "works with SmartThings"!), for that you'll need to buy one of their Almond routers, which was a great idea in 2015. but currently if the autofocus seems dated and clunky, then stick Peanut in Almond for a firmware update (what a crazy thought). However, this solution is already 3 years old. mine is only 15 months old. So in a year and a half the company hasn't bothered to find a solution to update the firmware on these devices, nor has it been able to update the firmware on the devices it had in stock? that's easy. lazy so I'm stuck with a $20 smart plug that doesn't control power and often disconnects from the hub requiring a long press of the reset button and we live in the land of a $7 smart Plug (some even in black). squares!) with reliable wireless connection. AND NOW! after 15 months and fairly light pressing (although i think a lot compared to normal.?) THE GOD D*** RESET BUTTON IS STILL IN THE DEVICE AND NO LONGER WORKING TO PUSH! I am now STACKED with this ugly cylindrical paperweight and resentment towards the Securifi company as a whole. And for some reason I really want some Planter's toasted honey right now. Hm.
