Our dog's paws were blistered, dry, cracked and sore from the "lifeguards" on the warm concrete around our pool. I bought and applied a soothing paw balm and they have softened a lot, no limp. She's starting to get used to it but walks like a new foal when I put her on for the first time. You have to pull the straps really tight to keep them from twisting, but that doesn't seem to affect circulation. The first 3-4 times she used them she was able to get them out (with extra effort) but now that they are less stiff and broken (and I tighten the straps) they stay in place.
