Review on πŸ’Ύ Patriot 8GB DDR3 1600MHz SODIMM Memory Stick - High Performance RAM Module with Low Voltage Consumption by Kerry Johnson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A new hope is 16GB of memory in laptops, originally said to only support 8MB.

With these memory modules, it was easy to upgrade two Toshiba P75-A7200 laptops to 32GB with 8MB for better performance. To do this on a 32GB Toshiba requires 4 modules and a complete disassembly of the laptop. I was also able to use 2 of these 8GB models to update DELL Vostro laptops with the latest BIOS. Successfully updated laptops: 1) Two Vostro 3750 (2nd Gen I7-2680QM with Intel HM67 chipsets). The CPU has been replaced by the original Intel I3 (second generation). The chipset does not allow the use of 3rd generation or higher processors in this laptop, although the sockets are the same. 3rd Gen CPUs officially support 32GB of memory. 2) A Vostro 3700 with Nvidia graphics, Intel HM57 chipset and first generation I7-740QM OEM processor. Dell/Intel stated that the CPU only supports 8MB - this is not true. Still limited to first generation CPU upgrade. 3) A Vostro 3550 - with I5-2410M CPU and HM67 chipset and latest Dell BIOS. All have been working without problems for several months.
