These (JU-P40412-S1) work on Dell PowerEdge Racks Server R520 with Ubuntu Linux. I chose the Siig card because it uses the Renesas (NEC) USB chipset. From what I've read, the NEC chipset helps with compatibility. Rack Servers: There's a catch that's not unique to this board. Most, if not all, of these USB expansion cards typically require additional power. The inner workings of most rack servers are so optimized for efficient use of space that you will probably not find a free power connection. I considered getting power from the optical drive, but this server has a laptop-style optical drive that uses a smaller than usual SATA power connector. There are probably adapters, but I don't have any. All is well. Since I only connect self-powered drives, I don't care. Remember. The manual says that driving works without additional power. However, a power connection is recommended if your specific device is not recognized or accidentally disconnects or all ports are connected to USB devices. Many devices rely on USB power for power.
