not recommended in hot Texas summer

I've heard that HEPA filters reduce airflow due to their manufacture and filtering ability, but decided to give it a try anyway. I figured that sacrificing reduced airflow for cleaner air would be a worthy compromise. But after two weeks of a hot Texas summer, I just gave up. It takes too long for the car to cool down and in the meantime I have to drive with the windows down for a while before that happens and that defeats the purpose of installing this filter. But what (ra) sealed the deal was the fact that after a meager two weeks a hole (?) burned through the filter and it appears the filter was sucked into the sewer. So I quickly ran to my local O Reilly and eventually got a Wix filter and I was back to normal. Anyway, I'm a fuzzy AF so I "borrowed" a review from another user which sums it up perfectly. See below.=================================FROM USER ZE_FOX: I use Bosch air filters. forever so i never thought i would leave a negative review about any of them. As many other reviews have pointed out, airflow is greatly reduced compared to a non-HEPA filter. This is to be expected given the extreme filter performance. However, I couldn't find any review that attempted to quantify the difference in airflow. Having just upgraded to a regular P3875WS on my 2016 Honda CR-V, I can see that the airflow with HEPA at the maximum front vent is the equivalent of about 3 clicks with a non-HEPA filter. It's huge! As a result, on a hot California day, if the car is parked outside in 100°F, it will take at least 10 minutes for the car to cool down. The best alternative is opening windows. what's better than a HEPA filter! Well, when it comes to HEPA-level air filtration. Making long journeys without getting out of the car can be an advantage. However, on short trips or frequent stops with the door or window open, I don't think it makes a difference in the air you breathe. I was also shocked to smell cigarette smoke from the driver in front of my car, I assumed the HEPA filter wouldn't have gotten through (but I may be wrong about that). Anyway, after 2 months of use and gnashing my teeth from the lack of air and the fan always on MAX, I finally decided to order a normal cabin filter and switch back. When I removed this HEPA filter, I noticed that its shape was a bit distorted and damaged in the lower middle. It has happened that the blower tries to suck in more air than can pass through the filter, causing it to suck the filter and buckle it. And the lowest point (in the middle) touched the axis of rotation of the fan and almost punched a hole in the filter. So, for all of the above reasons, I've come to the conclusion that this filter isn't worth the hassle, at least for my machine. Your mileage can be very much.========================================= === ====
