Out of the box, the VX2025WM looks good. It's slim, has smart touches like an open rectangular base and support bar for cable management, and looks pretty luxe on a clean desk. When playing World of Warcraft, this monitor's color reproduction is simply stunning - Mulgore sunsets are a brilliant orange. , and the undergrowth of Feralas teems with mottled green. Response times are quite decent: FPS like Half-Life 2 are smooth and colors are pristine here too. But it is precisely in these FPS games that a serious disadvantage of the monitor becomes apparent: black reproduction. (or worse, Prey) and suddenly the black doesn't look so uniformly black. The backlighting in the corners is really noticeable, less noticeable in some conditions but awkward in others. It sits right on that awkward line where I don't think it's bad enough to send the unit back (from what I've read they all are) but then again, it's just not good. If you don't use this display for gaming, this is a five star device. Expect a mixed bag if you want - while it's less than half the price of an Apple Cinema Display, it might be your only sensible choice for a 20-inch widescreen 8-bit panel.
