Review on πŸ“€ Progressive Scan DVD Player Toshiba SD-4900 with Enhanced SEO by Drew Gengler

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great product unfairly maligned by idiots

I've had this player for about 4 months now and it's great so far. Very clear, accurate colors and fast response. The remote's position is a little wobbly in a few spots, but I expect that will be the case for most gamers. However, given the shortcomings some people have mentioned, I feel compelled to defend this player as it gets a lower rating. what he really deserves - mostly out of ignorance. First to the problem of boom traps. It's not a trap, it's a progressive scan. If you don't have an HDTV, PS still won't do much for you! Of course, if you try to set up your player as a PS and your TV can't handle it, your display will go haywire for a while. However, if you check the manual, this "trap" is mentioned and the result is a factory reset fix. People say "Good luck" as if it's Toshiba's fault when it's just the result of people pushing buttons and selecting options they don't know about. The time/chapter display is shown on the front panel. Device panel - like almost *every* player. The reason you can't just stop the player for a few hours and leave it in the same place has more to do with Toshiba's liability control - it's BAD FOR YOUR PLAYER. This is bad for any drive. In summary, this is a great product that demonstrates audiophile quality in *certain* areas. It has its warts, like the remote, but throughout my experience with it, it's been near perfect. If you know how to control a DVD player without making stupid choices and manhandling the device, this is great for you. If you're one of those fools who toasts to your previous DVD player and complains that you can't read the front panel. is correct or can't figure out how the remaining time on the disk is shown, then absolutely. stay away. From all the electronics.
