This is perfect for me. To be honest, I didn't use the suction cup at all. I got my own suction cup out of my mouth and the ball fits in perfectly and after reading all the reviews about the suction cup I didn't even want to bother with it. But it's very versatile with any ball socket suction cup and it definitely solved my problem of having to remove the case every time because of the pop socket. Plus it's easier than a regular crowd anyway, since it's magnetic you don't have to fiddle with opening and closing the grippers. My phone is very big and quite heavy and it did a great job holding it, never dropped it! Update: Ok, so I had to drop one of the stars because the adhesive strip that comes with the metal ring doesn't stay on well enough. The tape peeled off after a few days and then continued to fall off. I solved this problem by simply buying double sided mounting tape and cutting around, now it holds up fine but I had to point this out to buyers. So the magnetism is great, which is the most important thing. I don't know about the suction cup because I haven't used it in my awesome work yet, but what it sucks is bourgeois, so just be where you might need to replace the glue yourself.
