Robust, handy

I bought this stand on a whim because I wanted to mount the generator on the front of my trailer to save weight. I didn't measure ahead of time but I was confident I should be fine as the mounts can be adjusted to fit any size trailer. Of course it fits perfectly. I have a bit of a custom propane setup up front with limited space so the front prop T-bar doesn't attach properly to the tongue. Instead, I drilled a 1/4" steel flat bar to fit the top of the support bracket, then cut it to size, bend it to reach the tongue jack, and clamped it twice with exhaust pipe clamps to use the tongue jack. as a front support. So far so good with over 1000 km on it. I get some compliments from other motorhomes for the setup but the most important is being able to use and maintain a 4kW generator with no manual work. I had a bit of an issue with the long bolts on the bottom brackets where they attach the mainstay to the 4" x 2" frame. I broke off the very first bolt head in my tightening sequence. The manufacturer told me to take them all. Hand tight and no problem. I'm sure they're right, it definitely won't wobble. I wanted to be safe though, so I bought all new class 5 bolts to replace those long bolts and torqued them to spec. I guess I'm a bit paranoid or I just enjoy spending money on screws, one thing or another.
