The price was high so I wasn't sure how it would work but I had to try it. I was amazed that the sound was loud enough to draw immediate attention. I've also tried all the levels or experienced the shock myself and I'm glad I did. The settings are 1 to 9 and at 1 you'll feel something, but it might not be much for a very small 5 pound dog, but at a setting of 4 it caught my attention and 9 will no doubt stop them in those tracks. I don't think I'll ever need to use a setting that high, but maybe it's good for large dogs. Of all the things I really like, the vibrate feature, once I started using it they were more responsive than anything else. And now I only use this collar because it's an easy way to get attention and it doesn't cause pain but it does get attention.
