Review on ๐Ÿ’ป Kinesis Advantage2 Ergonomic Keyboard (KB600) - Black Top Case, Cherry MX Brown Switches, QWERTY Keycaps by Craig Edwards

A touch of modernity for the iPad Pro

I'm a big fan of the Kinesis Ergo keyboard. I have one that I bought over 10 years ago, Professional, that still works perfectly. When I decided to expand my experience with the iPad (and other computers), I chose a different Kinesis Ergo. It works great when connected via the QGeeM USB-C adapter. The keyboard doesn't disappoint, the brown switches are nice and crisp with a touch of softness. It's nice to see that they replaced the soft rubber function keys with nice mechanical switches. If you have an older keyboard, note that the brown switches on it are crisper or less soft than on the older model. I've never customized my old keyboard, nor do I intend to customize it, but it's nice that the customization feature has now moved to the keyboard itself. Looking to the keyboard, they've also added volume controls, as well as one-touch switches for toggling between prompt Duvorak Mac windows, and there's even a button called "Status". The beep function when pressing is also still available. As many other commenters point out, this keyboard is really expensive. I put off buying a second one for a long time and seriously considered buying Logitech or Microsoft Ergo. This is a very difficult decision and I still disagree. Other downsides are that plastic feels cheap for this price point. Also, I was expecting blue switches under the blue keys, that would be a nice touch. Another sad observation is that the letters are still glued to the keyboard, meaning they will disappear over time. At this price I expect them to be pinched. And to top it off, it's 2021 and there are no LED backlights. How am I supposed to see the keys in the dark when I'm in a marathon coding session? Even my $30 Razer I bought off eBay has customizable LED lighting.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Style 90
