Works the same as fine metal needle threaders. However, the bright red handles make them more visible, durable and comfortable to grip. The plastic handles look nice and I expect they will last quite a while. In terms of function, each handle is attached to a piece of thin metal wire bent into a diamond shape. The tip of this metal wire diamond can be easily slipped through the needle eye while the remainder of the metal wire diamond is temporarily bent to pass through the needle eye. When this is done, simply drop the thread into the center of the diamond and then pull the wire back through the eye of the needle. He pulls the thread behind him and automatically threads the needle. The center of the diamond shape must contain at least 50 needle eyes in order to create a target that cannot be missed, rather than a target that requires pinpoint precision to get the needle through. These are great little helpers for those who can't thread a needle quickly and for those who develop physical limitations that make threading a needle more of a challenge.
