This works to clean pots and pans and doesn't seem to scratch the non-stick coating and the handle keeps your hands out of the dishwater. The ball is not attached to the handle - the pins must be inserted deep into the ball or it will fall off. The handle comes in two pieces for no apparent reason and again you need to make sure they are attached properly. The ball unwinds like a ball of yarn. The curved back of the handle is probably more palm-friendly than the flat top, but I'd rather be able to put the brush down like a mushroom rather than using a soap dish. Fur.
