THIS DOES NOT REPLACE A PROFESSIONAL SOLDERING IRON.

Ideal for small repairs and hobby projects where you just need to attach a wire or a fat little capacitor. This isn't the kind of soldering iron you buy when you want to rebuild old 1970's audio gear like a receiver. I used this to reconnect a wire that had come loose from an electronic device during shipping. Maryland roads can be hell with potholes big enough to swallow smart cars whole. Tiny solder in an old electronic audio device doesn't stand a chance. The tip doesn't get insanely hot and the performance isn't very accurate, but it's good enough for basic tasks most of the time. These soldering irons tend to have lower operating temperatures which can increase the dwell time at a given soldering point, so take this into account in your technique. I'm not a soldering specialist but I was able to use this soldering iron for the simplest electronics repair.
