I am not a professional photographer, but just an amateur. I photograph mainly on trips, but I travel often, so one of the main criteria for me is the compactness of the device. Before that, I used a Canon 100d (at the time of purchase it was the smallest SLR camera in the world). Therefore, I will compare with him. In terms of image quality, the m100 is in no way inferior to the 100d, and somewhere even surpasses it due to the new matrix. The m100 is much smaller, although it weighs less than just over 100 grams without a lens. It doesn't seem like much, but it's noticeable. Especially when you walk around the city for a long time in cold weather. Now the camera constantly hangs around the neck, and when it is not needed for a short time, it can be easily hidden under a jacket. From 100d after an hour of walking, the neck began to hurt. After the optical viewfinder, it was a little strange to use the touch screen. But this is a matter of time, in fact it turned out to be much more convenient, minus the battery runs out faster. By the way, the battery is exactly the same as in 100d. The m100 shoots video better than 100d, but its quality is still not enough for blogging, you can’t connect an external microphone, how to make wind noise protection is generally incomprehensible. In short, this camera is perfect for amateurs for traveling and for professionals, if you need to take good shots quickly in the city, but there is no way to carry a backpack with optics.

Pros

- Image quality. At manual settings, it is not inferior to large SLR cameras. - Dimensions and weight. This is a really small camera. Of course, with a whale lens, it will not fit in every jacket pocket, but if you put a pancake on 22 mm, then you can carry it in your pocket. At the same time, after the DSLR, it feels like a fluff. - There is wifi, bluetooth, nfc. I set up the connection once and you can transfer pictures even to a smartphone or watch directly on TV via dnla.

Cons

- The number of lenses and their prices. Lenses for ef-m can be counted on the fingers of two hands, and their prices are very high (compared to ef-s). Someone may say, so there is an adapter for ef-s. Yes, there is, but it is expensive, even if you buy used, but most importantly, the compactness of the device is lost and the weight increases significantly. There is no point in this adapter, it's easier then to buy a canon 200d. Canon m100 with zoom lens is smaller and lighter than canon 100d with kit lens - The standard lens has a so-called transport mode - you can remove the lens as much as possible so that the camera takes up less space. It's just that it's not implemented conveniently. It is necessary each time to pinch the lever with your fingers and remove the lens with your hands. When power is applied, it also does not open itself, you must also press the lever and open it with your hands. It will get boring the second time. - the screen, although swivel, but turns only 180 degrees for selfies. If you need to shoot something with raised hands (for example, a concert in the crowd), then alas, the screen can no longer be rotated in this position - Canon has good hardware, but the software is crooked. The standard program for synchronizing a smartphone and a camera is buggy and slow. Firstly, it cannot be closed by the back button. Secondly, it will not work if you first launched it and then connected to your smartphone via wifi. Thirdly, if you copy a photo, then nothing can be done in the program itself. You cannot select all photos at once, and you cannot copy and delete photos at once. Of course, there is an unofficial analogue, where everything works much better, but it costs money. - Liquidity in the secondary market. Ef-m is not as popular as ef-s. It is almost impossible to find ef-m lenses on the secondary market; they only sell a whale lens, and then at the prices of used ef-s DSLRs. The camera itself is also quite difficult to sell on the secondary market, because. the demand for it is minimal.
