I have two large dogs (60 and 70 pounds) and we go to the park every day, often walk in dirty places and even go off and to the beach. When this cover is brand new, nothing goes in my back seat. I would say I need to replace it every 6 months or so (although the current one has been on for 8 or 9 months) but as I use it daily and my dogs don't have it easy I think it's fair. I've only had one tear so far and I wouldn't say you can take it out, wash it and put it back in (I tried once), but it's worth it. I can only imagine what my back seat would look like (if it was still there) if it hadn't been permanent for the last 3 years. Maybe it would take a lot longer if you only had one dog or smaller dogs. But I still give 5 stars! I like the mesh in the middle so air can flow through the front as well.
