I bought this to use my Miix 320 for lessons across the country. I have a small old DLP projector that only has a VGA input. I often need to use monitors and projectors at customer sites with HDMI inputs. This solves the problem properly for little money. It works well without an external power supply and appears like an extended desktop monitor as it should be. worth your money. I also have the same device but in DisplayPort configuration which works just as well on my Surface 3.
