The snow and ice were no match for the treads. When compared to studded tires, non-studded ones are the standard when driving on wet pavement. Very good brakes. An objective evaluation requires driving on a variety of tires mounted to the same vehicle in severe weather, but this is not always possible. In my opinion, they perform admirably in the icy circumstances of winter driving. The softness of the tires is both a benefit (less noise) and a disadvantage (sidewall damage on sharp ice, for instance, when parking in the yard) because of the vehicle's suspension. Very decent tires, in my opinion, can be had for a very fair price.
