Review on Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3: 15.6 Inch AMD Ryzen Gaming Laptop with RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6 by Quinton King

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Phenomenal play value

Really great price. You get a Ryzen 5600H, 512GB of M.2 storage, and an RTX 3060. While this 3060 is likely the lower-power option, it packs enough power to run modern games on a nice 15.6-inch, 1080p screen 120 Hz to run smoothly. Many people may be skeptical about the Ideapad lineup as Lenovo has skimped on cooling in the past. This version has a dual fan design (see photo) very similar to the Legion Lime product and the massive exhaust grilles should provide adequate cooling. There are also matching vents on the bottom of the laptop. Finally cons. I advise you to spend an extra $35-40 and get another Samsung 8GB DDR4 3200MHz PC4-25600 1.2V memory stick. You can upgrade with another brand, but the module already installed was Samsung, so I went with compatibility. You should be able to bump it up to 32GB as some users have, but 16GB should be the minimum these days. The USB-C port is USB only, no video. Your only video output is a single HDMI 2.0 port. Overall it's great value for money, you get a lot of performance for less than a thousand dollars. Not bad Lenovo, not bad at all. EDIT: 09/26/2021 The day after I wrote this review, the laptop would no longer turn on. I followed Lenovo's own troubleshooting steps but didn't make any changes, so I submitted a ticket to Lenovo. Let's see how it works.

Pros
  • Conventional laptops
Cons
  • Negative impression
