This is ALMOST what the wrist rest should be. The fake leather one looks nice, but it gets sticky from just a little sweat, and over time the surface degrades. This one is designed to be more comfortable in use, and to hold up better. It is the same size as the other one, so it is a direct replacement. I would recommend this one with one important caveat: it doesn't have magnets in it, so it may move around on you instead of sticking right in place like the original does. It is possible to open it up and add some magnets yourself, but I wish they had thought of that and included those.
