Just returned from a trip to Mom's where we used Pack n Play and Pack n Play quilted sheets in place of a cot/mattress etc. for our baby. I was definitely nervous about using it as it didn't seem the most comfortable thing in the world and our little one doesn't sleep very well. However, Pack n Play warns against adding a mattress or other extra padding and safety wins, which is why we went for it. We were pleasantly surprised on several fronts. A good sleeping surface was once added. Second, we've never had a problem getting our little one to sleep on it (although she's never slept or played in a bag and she's very picky about sleeping surfaces). Third, she actually slept through the night, which not only has she never done before, she's never even come close - she slept twice as long on the backpack/play/quilt combo. Sure it could be coincidence, the result of travel fatigue etc, but sleep well eat well so it's a win no matter how you look at it.
