Very comfy wash first only. I accidentally skipped a step and just started using it which caused some itching when trying to sleep. It also works very well after washing and is suitable for another brand of U-shaped pillows sold with no alternative pillowcase options. I also like that the zipper is reversible so you can decide where the zipper lands.
