The spray does not have to be applied.
Spraying is unpredictable and uneven. Every use of the windshield washer is both an accidental pleasure and a waste of time. One shot goes straight into the hood, right after that the spray can go through the roof, the next in the eye of the cute biker I just passed. Who knows? Certainly not me or anyone else. Just push the button and pray that moisture eventually gets on the windshield.
