I've been using HTPCs for years, but I've always had Avast tuners because they're cheaper. They're still broadcasting HD and seem to be working fine. I bought a HAUPPAUGE tuner for my Xbox One, which I can highly recommend, and immediately noticed that the quality is better and I can even get more channels on the tiny antenna that came with it. So I decided to buy this tuner for my computer to see if I could get a better signal on the few channels that were dropping out. Not only do I have stronger reception on these channels, but now there are some channels that didn't scan at all on my other tuner. I still use WMC as my main planning and recording tool and it works great with these tuners. However, the included software was a big plus for me as it allows for two parallel streams. It's a great way to watch sports. However, I will say that showing two channels on the screen at the same time in 1080 is quite taxing on your CPU, but I've never seen any latency issues. I might buy another one because having two of these as 4 tuners is much easier and clearer than having 4 separate tuners. ** For those who have never had anything like this before ** This is a simple adaptive USB tuner for your computer. You install it and it allows you to watch and record local over-the-air (OTA) programs. This usually includes CBS, Fox, NBC, ABC, CW, PBS and any other local stations you may be able to catch. Almost all versions of Windows prior to Windows 10 included Windows Media Center, a program that allows users to view, record, and schedule recordings. Show. If you have a new computer that no longer has this software, this tuner includes a software key to install Hauppague's proprietary software for viewing and recording shows. It's not as pretty or just visual, but it works well. (The main difference is that WMC was designed to work on a TV and with a remote control, while WinTv is a legacy program designed to be used with a mouse and keyboard.) It's a dual tuner huh means you can watch two channels at the same time. time, or watch one and record another, or record two channels simultaneously. The kit includes a small antenna, which is suitable if you live in the city. However, for better reception, use a large antenna like the Mohu sheet (or other decent antenna). One final note: if you're recording shows in HD (like almost everyone else these days), you're going to need a lot of space. I don't know the file sizes of the included WinTv software, but WMC files average 2-3 gigabytes for a 30 minute show. A 3-4 hour football game requires 20-25 gigabytes. It will almost be necessary to have an extra hard drive for recording. Of course, it depends on how much you want to record and store.
