Although these sheets are 1000 thread count I was expecting a slightly thicker sheet as this set of sheets replaced another set of popular and old 1000 thread count sheets where fitted were the sheets that were thicker eventually just worn out and beyond repair; it really all depends on the thickness of the threads used making up that thread count (the fabric weight would also be a good descriptive thing to add). With that being said, I washed the new sheets when they arrived (I'm not a fan of sleeping on sizes that put in jeans to look good in stores and in the box), and they straight out of the dryer laid on the bed and I love her. Even if they are not as thick as the old sheets, they are still well made, very good quality cotton and smooth on the bed. My mother used to iron the sheets (100% cotton wrinkles, that's the nature of it). I didn't do it because I'm not crazy. Please note that I am a professional quilter and am knowledgeable about the quality and finish of cotton fabrics. . Leaf fabric is a quality fabric. I washed and dried on the next higher setting than the washing instructions and also used fabric softener.
