Review: Flourish Protein Pancake & Waffle Mix Especially since Flourish Protein Pancake & Waffle Mix comes in vanilla, chocolate, and buttermilk flavors, I have the expected type of chocolate would be... well... full of chocolate flavor. I expected the chocolate flavor profile to be something like the chocolate flavor of a cake mix. However, I found that there was very little chocolate flavor; some but not many. A disappointing amount of chocolate for me. And although one of the pictures on the product page states that the ingredients contain "cocoa nibs", the ingredients label on the package does not list cocoa nibs and I couldn't find them. , at least visually, in the mix. I like the convenience of being able to add water to the mix and nothing else. But as with other protein blends I've tried in the past, when testing the Flourish product I found that the final blend/batter would be very runny if I followed the recommended proportions. I found that the waffles (despite using waffle iron nonstick spray) stuck to the waffle iron and fell apart when I tried to remove them from the waffle iron. However, on my second try, I increased the amount of mixture I added to the batter and then sprayed the waffle iron twice and the results were much more acceptable. I thought the waffles that came out (except for the lack of chocolate flavor) were quite good. Waffle structure, slightly crispy on top, but nice and fluffy on the inside; such a beautiful texture. And I think the flaxseed might have added some crunch to the waffles. . In my testing, I made more than a double serving (1 cup + about another ¼ cup of the mix), and the combination only made three waffles. At the end of the day the waffles I tried were not ready. tastes like something very special; Not to mention the chocolate flavored waffles. So much so that if I'm trying to use the product to make pancakes, I'm wondering what to add to the mix.
