Amazing value

I've been using a Thinkpad for decades. There are certain aspects of a brand that just work for me. The matte black plastic looks good years later, the chunky look is durable and timeless, the keyboard is almost always very comfortable and easy to type on, even on a plane, and those docks. This dock is very similar to the one I had for my IBM built Thinkpad 15 years ago. I use it with a couple of my T440 laptops, cheap old laptops with great keyboards that you can buy refurbished. Although it's not on the compatibility list, it works perfectly. The laptop docks very easily, even with the extended life battery, and slides out very smoothly with no clicking or any real mechanical noise. This is a nice improvement over the old docking stations. You get plenty of USB ports, an HDMI port, and a few other video ports. To be honest, the T440 isn't powerful enough to support multiple displays anyway, but you can use a pair if you want and there are much more powerful dock-compatible laptops out there. For the low price of this product you get a really convenient way to connect accessories to your desk and the T440 didn't have the usual HDMI port anyway. If it's compatible with your Thinkpad, it's a really good deal, and I haven't found a defect with the laptop's dock (some reviews complain of design flaws with some docks, but this model doesn't appear to have any.

Pros
  • 2x DisplayPort 1.2, 1x DVI-D, 1x HDMI 1.4 and 1x VGA (max two displays, including laptop screen)
Cons
  • Sad hardware
